September 27: Producing Australia’s Best TV dramas – Imogen Banks
Offspring would have to be, not just one of the most successful Australian television drama series on our screen at present, but also one of the most idiosyncratic. And yet its peculiar charm has completely captured Australian audiences. It attracts dedicated viewers, has received countless local awards and nominations and has proved to be career consolidating for many of its acting talent including Asher Keddie, Kat Stewart and Eddie Perfect.
Imogen Banks has co-produced every series of Offspring and at the same time has also co-produced a number of productions that have reached a similar “must-watch” benchmark. The intriguing Showtime series Tangle drew tremendous critical acclaim, as did last year’s adaption of the iconic novel Puberty Blues, which is currently moving into its second series.
As Offspring enters its fifth season, Imogen will provide behind-the-scenes insights into its production and reflect on the qualities that have enabled the series to go from strength-to-strength shaping her reputation as an exceptional and much admired television producer.
