Friday 19 October: Special Effects are part of the magic and mystique of motion pictures. Peter Stubbs has had a long and
significant career as a commercials, film and television Special Effects Supervisor, creating the on-set effects of
some now classic Australian films including Malcolm, Dogs in Space, Death in Brunswick, Chopper and more
recently Balibo and Animal Kingdom. He was also pivotal in devising the powerful true to life graphics for the
original TAC commercials. It was his excellent reputation locally that also secured him work on international
productions including Ghost Rider staring Nicholas Cage, Spike Jonze’s adaptation of the inspiring children’s
book Where The Wild Things Are and the Spielberg TV mini-series The Pacific.
Using specifically selected clips, Peter will provide rare behind the scenes insights as he reflects on his
extensive thirty year career and will discuss where he sees the future of SFX in Australia.
