Friday August 3 – Bringing Seth McFarlane’s bawdy Ted to life: Glenn Melenhorst
The national and international box office success of Seth MacFarlane’s (Family Guy) live action CG-animated
feature Ted, an adult comedy starring Mark Wahlberg about a pot-smoking teddy bear that comes to life as a
result of a childhood wish, holds a special significance for Melbourne based visual effects company Iloura. It
was Iloura’s impressive and extensive groundwork that established the overall look and nuances of the central
character Ted. And that work not only succeeded in securing the company significant character animation on
the film, but also helped MacFarlane finance it.
Showing exclusive footage, Iloura’s Creative Director Glenn Melenhorst, will discuss how they pitched, secured
and worked with Seth MacFarlane and Tippett Studio to create the boundary pushing and bawdy Ted.
