Friday September 6: Connecting Locals with Internationals
The Australian film and television industry revolves around connections. Success or otherwise in this industry frequently depends on the partnerships you’ve struck both creatively and financially.
Ausfilm, which has offices in Sydney and Los Angeles, is a unique Australian industry-government partnership which connects the international film community with Australia’s screen talent, incentives and facilities.
Despite the fact that Ausfilm is often the first port of call for international studios and producers wanting to do business in Australia and work with Australians, local practitioners appear to be less familiar than they could be with this valuable resource of information and introductions.
Debra Richards, the CEO of Ausfilm, manages – amongst other activities – Ausfilm’s annual Co-production Forum, London in May each year and Ausfilm Week, Los Angeles, a production attraction event held in October.
Debra will provide a rare opportunity to get a better understanding of what Ausfilm is, how it works and how you can benefit from its knowledge of the market place and its international connections. This is a timely discussion given the usual rise in production attraction projects when the Australian dollar starts to fall against the American Greenback!
Friday on My Mind is a FREE weekly 1-hour interview series hosted by Sandra Sdraulig AM (former CEO of Film Victoria, Director of MIFF) held every Friday @ 5.30pm with the best directors, writers, producers, actors and industry professionals.
Guest: Debra Richards, CEO Ausfilm
