Matthew Saville is a multi-award winning film and television writer and
director. His feature film debut, Noise, premiered internationally at the
prestigious Sundance Film Festival then went on to win numerous awards
locally. He has most recently completed critically acclaimed adaptations of
Cloud Street and The Slap after working on landmark television programs
including The King, a biopic about Graham Kennedy; The Secret Life of Us;
Tangle and We Can Be Heroes. Matthew will discuss the skill of directing
comedy and drama, the experience of working in both film and television as
well as the art of collaborating with writers such as Tim Winton; actor Stephen
Curry and the multi-talented Chris Lilley.
Friday on My Mind Melbourne – a free weekly and open forum with a live
audience – is hosted by the highly regarded and much admired Sandra
Sdraulig former CEO of Film Victoria, the State’s film, TV & digital media
agency (2002-2011).
Sandra was Director of the Melbourne International Film
Festival for four years and is now the chair of the Bigpond Adelaide Festival.
There’s not much Sandra doesn’t know about film and there aren’t too many
filmmakers Sandra hasn’t had dealings with.
Come along and enjoy the informed and film literate host as she discusses
creative practice with a range of interesting guest practitioners each and
every Friday throughout the year.
